Linn Olofsdotter and Paris.

Second post of the day. I didn't want to share more photography work just yet as I seem to have only written about that recently. So as my past post was Tony Hong, I thought I would share another illustrator who I am highly influenced by. Linn Olofsdotter is an illustrator who I have known for a year or so now and although very different to the style most people know me by, I also enjoy doing pieces of art in a very similar style to hers (for example, my year 13 final project piece: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=284331891587742&set=a.284327818254816.72250.284032954950969&type=3&theater).

I also nearly forgot to say, I am going to Paris tomorrow so won't be writing until Sunday. But photos and Paris work will be up straight after!

Tony Hong.

I am so bad at this 369 project. I forgot again yesterday. So once again, I'll do two today.

I firstly want to share with you an illustrator called Tony Hong. I came across him only a few months ago but I love his style so much as it is so similar to mine and really good to look at and get inspiration. One of my favourites of his is a piece that (I think) is called 'Free and Ready For Flight' (below).

Take a look at the rest of his stuff, it's really interesting. Alex. xxx

Friday 20 January 2012

Good evening!

Today has been so nice. For the first time in a while, I did nothing all day and didn't feel guilty because I didn't actually have anything to do. So nice having days like that, however rare they may be.

Today I wanted to show you my last (for a while anyway) post from Fashion Copious. It's 'A Sight for Sore Eyes' taken of model Olivia Pires by Stian Foss for the Personae Magazine Winter 2011. I love the really dark, dreary colours mixed with lighting that just sets the images off perfectly. Another set of images I wish I had taken!

See more from this series here:

Chanel.

After being a gymnast myself for about 12/13 years, when I came across these images I just got so excited, I had to share them with you all. It is the Chanel SS 2012 Campaign taken of Saskia de Brauw and Joan Smalls by Karl Lagerfeld. I also love black and white photography so this just made me love these images even more!

Hope you like them too! Alex. xxx

Body Language.

Second post of the day (explained why in post below), and take a wild guess what it is! Yup, another Fashion Copious link! This set of images is called 'Body Language' taken of Anouck Lepère by Bharat Sikka for Vogue India Beauty January 2012. I really love the colours of these photos and how they look so cold from not only the editing, but the model's cold stare. I also love her make up, will definitely be trying this out on myself soon!

Wildfox and Ransom Notes.

I did it again. I didn't post yesterday, but I do have a reason! Virgin was being stupid yesterday so my internet wasn't allowing me to sign into anything and therefore not letting write a post.

So today. Today has been such a shitty day. Found out some not-so-cool news which made me very sad, therefore I won't write much as I'm not really in the mood and I am very sorry for that. But today I want to show 2 things (although it will end up being three due to not being able to post yesterday's so will do an extra one today). Firstly I just wanted to share my friend, Jess Redman's tumblr with you. I just love it so so much. She has such similar likes to me, for example bums, the female figure and sexy couple photos, which just makes me love it. Also I am very excited as she has applied for Falmouth Uni to do illustration which is what I also have applied for so would be very cool if we ended up both going as after quitting gym (where we know each other from) I haven't seen her in SUCH a long time!

The second thing I want to show you was a little website I found of Stumble a while back. It's not that interesting but it's really good if you're doing a sketchbook page for art and either can't be bothered to draw out your own or just fancy something different. But basically, it is a 'Ransom Note Generator', which I know sounds bad at first, but just type anything into the little text box, press create and et voila, you have an interesting title made up of random letters form different places. Below is an example.

Seper Natural.

Holaa.

As I am really, really tired today, I am going to be boring and just put up a link to another Fashion Copious page, but not write about my opinions or anything as my brain is just not with it today. It is a series of images called 'Super Natural' taken of  Julia Frauche by Yelena Yemchuk for Dazed & Confused January 2012.

Hope you like! Alex. xxx

Julia Juju Ivanyuk and Danican.

Hello all!

Hope you are all doing well on this nice sunny day! Today I have been franticly trying to get all my work ready for my interviews and portfolio requests I have soon. Not the most fun way to spend a Sunday but once it's all done it will be a huge weight off my back, so I don't mind.

I wanted to share yet another set of images from Fashion Copious, this time of model Julia Juju Ivanyuk and taken by Danican for Zoo Magazine, Winter 11.12. I was originally only going to show you these as I just liked the dark and dirty look to these photos, but then I looked up Danican on Google and found that I also loved his other work, so will also share that today.

The image above and link below are Danican's photos of Julia Juju Ivanyuk.

And above and below here are other examples of Danican's work.

Louis Vuitton SS 2012 Campaign Kati Nescher and Daria Strokous by Steven Meisel

Yoo :)

I want to share a couple of pictures today that I found from one of my fashion copious emails. This on is a Louis Vuitton SS 2012 Campaign taken by Steven Meisel. The models, Kati Nescher and Daria Strokous, look so heavenly and perfect in these photos which makes the image even more cutesy and floaty (if you know what I mean).

Hellooooo.
Today, I want to just share a few pictures I found today to do with art. Nothing special, but I like them.

And also this cat, because he's really cute.

'Bals' Ymre Stiekema by John Akehurst for Exit FW 2011.

Ok so, post two of the day due to me forgetting yesterdays. I just want to quickly say now that for the next few days, most of the things I link on each post will be from a website called Fashion Copious as I have signed up for their newsletter and have saved all the emails with stuff on that I liked to post on here! The emails come quite often (so if you don't like emails flowing in thick and fast, then I suggest you don't subscribe), but if you like having a few emails a week giving you new photo shoots, beautiful magazine covers and interviews from all kinds of people in the creative industry, then you really should sign up or at least take a look at the website every now and again.

Anyway, I wanted to share another photo shoot with you today. This series named 'Bals' (the immature side of me starts to giggle) taken of the striking Ymre Stiekema and photographed by John Akehurst for Exit FW 2011 really gets me excited. Not only do I love portraiture photography, but also the lighting that casts beautiful shadows and just adds that little bit extra to the photos, and these do it perfectly. They all look so flawless and effortless, and I just love them!

Carola Remer by Greg Kadel.

Ah I've done it again! I forgot to post yesterday, but this time I do actually have a valid reason. Firstly, I was at college all day, then stayed even later after to get more work done and then went and stayed at Jack's dad's house where we always end up getting distracted by TV, Just Dance or Jack's little sister Milly creating us all on the Sims! So like before, I will do two today.

Firstly, I want to show you a series of photos of Carola Remer by Greg Kadel for Vogue Germany January 2012. I just love the colours and flow of the material combined with the dramatic poses making each photo so interesting and individual. The model, Carola Remer, is so beautiful and has such a defined face, she really makes the photos perfect. I wish I could say I had taken these!

Catch Up Post!

Howdi :)

So today isn't going to be a normal post where I share artists or my work, but it is just a sort of 'catch-up' post where I let people know what's going on in my art life at the moment.

Firstly, (I suppose this is like sharing an artist) I want to share my very good friend Natasha Dowdall's blog. She is currently studying BA Textile Design at Birmingham City University and her blog is more or less just her work and inspiration throughout her time in university. If you like the idea of my blog then you'll like hers too as they are both similar ideas but with a different theme, textile design. Her blog link is http://natashadowdalltextiles.blogspot.com/, so take a look!

I would also like to show you a link for a photography competition I have entered. If you could do me the favour of clicking on to the link and voting for my photo by pressing the little heart button at the top, it really would mean a lot to me! http://www.photoswinprizes.com/2012/01/10/hold-me/

Another thing I wanted to tell you about is my university interviews. After applying for Falmouth x2 (illustration and photography), UWE x2 (again, illustration and photography) and Bournemouth for illustration, I have so far received two portfolio requests from both Falmouth courses and an interview for UWE illustration. So I am a happy bunny right now! But a very very busy one too as for both Falmouth courses, I have to create a portfolio of between 12 and 20 images and write a statement for both, as well as keep on top of my college work at the same time!

So there you go, an update on my art life at the moment! Not overly exciting but hey ho! Tomorrow's will be better. xxx

Thought I'd add this to give you something to look at. So here you go, a funny little squirrel from Battery Park in New York!

Sand Art.

Hi again!

This is my second post of the day as, if you will have read my previous post, you will know that I forgot to write yesterday so had to write two today. I wanted to show you this video I found on stumble. It takes the year-one-sand-creations to a new level. I won't say what it is in the end, but just watch it, its so cool!

Adios! xxx

Idée Multicolour Lab.

Hello all!

So yesterday I forgot to upload a post as part of my 365 Project. I was going to say it is because I was busy, but when thinking back over what I was doing yesterday, I don't actually remember doing very much other than a couple of hours of college work and going to Jack's where I only watched tv, ate and faffed about. So I don't really have a valid reason for not doing it, but I am just going to do two today to make up for it.

Today I wanted to share a website. It is called the Idée Multicolour Lab. On this site you select up to 5 colours from the chart on the right, and each time you click a colour, images that are mainly that colour show up on the left. The more colours you add, the more colours will be in the picture. For example, if you chose only green (1), only pictures of green things will come up; but if you select green, red and yellow, then images with all those colours in will show up (2). Ok, so it might not seem the most interesting thing in the world, but if you need to make a mood board of similar colours or find a few certain things that are the same colours, then it is actually quite helpful.

I'm sure you won't, but I hope you find it at fun as me! xxx

Agnes Cecile.

Bonjourno peoples!

Recently, since one of my friends on Facebook posted a Youtube video of an artist recording himself doing a painting, I have developed a bit of a new fascination for these kinds of videos. I keep watching them and having them on in the background whilst I do my work, which is nice as it feels like I'm working with someone else, even if it is just recorded. So I wanted to share this video with you of one of my favourites to watch. It is the artist Agnes Cecile doing a watercolour portrait.

Light and Shaddow Films.

Helloooooo!

So today is Friday, which means it's the start of my weekend (I only go to college Monday to Thursday). Today I was hoping to spend the whole day doing research for my new college project where we have been asked to illustrate three book covers. But I haven't particularly been in the mood to do research today, so instead I decided to do some photography work and think of photo-shoot ideas I want to do as I haven't done any for a while now. It made me think of my previous work done and reminded me of my Light and Shadow photography project I had in my second year of 6th form and the films I made at the end of it as a sort of 'final piece'. So I have decided to share those with you today. I'm not allowed them on my Facebook page as the music over them isn't mine and they get deleted almost immediately, which is a bummer! But I am allowed them on Youtube, and therefore allowed them on here.

This first one is the first film I made for this project. The dancer is my friend Grace Williams, who is a beautiful dancer and made this dance up on the spot! Which may be easy for dancers like her, but as a non-dancer, I just thought it was pretty amazing also considering she had never even heard the song before! I used 2 large studio lights either side of a stage and had a gauze in front of her, so her shadows showed up when she went close to the lights or the gauze. The song is Fall by Ed Sheeran and as I previously said, it is not my song, I don't own it (not sure if that actually makes a difference for copyright stuff but lets hope it does and I am allowed to keep it on here!). When watching them both, I advise you to make them full screen as they are easier to see and have a better impact on the viewer.

This is the second film I made, again using Grace as a model. In my project I had previously taken images of the nude body with dramatic lighting therefore giving it dramatic shadows and was really pleased with the results. After doing that, I was watching TV and saw a perfume advert that reminded me of my images. This is where the idea for my film came from. You will notice it has a sort of 'perfume advert feel' to it, which is what I was aiming for. The song is Slow Down by Morcheeba and again, I do not own it, etc.

Hope you liked them! xxx

(p.s. After deleting my Youtube account, my videos didn't show up on here any more after sharing this post, so I tried again on my new account which again didn't work, so you'll have to click on the link to see the video rather than watching it on my blog).

Cinemagraphs.

Good evening!

Today I am going to show you a website which has a series of beautiful cinemagraphs. These are all done so perfectly and effortlessly; they're just amazing. I so badly want to give this a go but don't know how. Youtube tutorials here I come! There may be a post in the future of my own cinemagraph, who knows.

Wednesday 4 January 2012

Good Evening!

I'm doing this post quite early tonight compared to the others as last night I was up until quarter to two (which I know may not be too bad for some of you, but for people like me who are practically dead the next day if they go to bed any later than 10; 1.45am isn't a good time to stay up until). I was up until this time as I have had a Christmas project to do for these past 2ish weeks and had to finish off the last bits last night, not realising how much I actually had left. Fortunately I did finish and am pleased with my final result, and becasue of this, I have chosen to show you that today.

The project theme was books and the idea was that we look at our own bookshelf, take inspiration from our own books and create a piece of book art that relates to one or multiple books on our shelves. I chose a book from when I was little called 'The Flower Fairies Treasury' and decided to fill half a book with an introduction to all the fairies by stating their name and their 'song' (which is just a little poem about them taken from the original book). At the back of the book, I then decided to make the fairies actual treasury where all their special possessions are kept.

Below are photos of my book art. There are a few images of the fairy intro pages and then one (and a few close ups) of the treasury at the back.

Hope you like it!! xx

Aurélie Ronfaut.

Hello all. Today I am going to share an illustrator I recently found called Aurélie Ronfaut. She is a  French artist (as I'm sure you can tell be her name!) and has a very simple yet detailed style of drawing females, often with watercolour/ink backgrounds. Her website is here: http://www.thiluu.com/#!portfolio/vstc7=illustrations. Please take a look as I'm sure you will like it if you have similar taste to me.

Metroplastique.

Hola!

So day two of the 366 project. Today I wanted to share a video by two artists who go by the name of Metroplastique. I found it a while back and shared it on my facebook, which got a lot of love, so for those of you who aren't connected to me on there or just didn't see it, here it is again.

It is a video showing the creation of a large piece they did called 'Euphorie'. The end product is so amazing but the process is just as interesting so be sure to watch!

Hope you like it! xxx

Cashback.

Firstly, Happy New Yeaaar! I hope you had a good 2011 and hope this year will be even better for all of you.
So today is the 1st which means day one of the 365 project (although this year is a leap year so technically it is the 366 project). Today I wanted to share a film that I found whilst on stumble (which if you don't have, Google it, I highly recommend it) quite a few months ago. 'Cashback', directed and written by Sean Ellis, is a short film based in a supermarket. I wont say too much, I'll just let you watch it.

Hope you enjoy xxx
